Laser spider vein treatment offers my patients the opportunity to treat unwanted smaller vessels. The laser light passes through the skin and is targeted on the small vessel creating heat energy that damages the vein. This damaged vessel is then worked on by the body and gradually breaks-up and dissolves.”
- Kathryn Upton, M.D.
Aging, heredity, leg injuries, pregnancy and sun exposure can cause unsightly veins. Fortunately, many unwanted veins may be reduced or eliminated with almost no down-time.
Treatment time:
Times vary but range between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on
the number and size of the
vessel(s) to be treated.
Number of
treatments:
In many cases, significant improvement is realized in as few
as 1 to 3 treatments. In some cases, new spider veins may
appear; therefore, additional treatments may be necessary.
Treatments can be scheduled at 8-week intervals.
Exercise:
Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost
immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous
exercise and avoid hot tubs for at least 24 hours post
treatment. Also, avoid direct sun exposure after treatment;
if you do go out in the sun, protect the treated area with a
minimum SPF 30 Sun Block (not sunscreen).
Supplements:
Avoid taking aspirin, Vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, or any
other blood-thinner two weeks before having laser vein
treatment.
